QR codes are so cool. I love that they’re standardized, easily accessible (everyone knows how to scan them especially post pandemic), easy to make (you can just search for “QR code generator” on the web), and are designed to be resilient to damage with built in data redundancy.
You can put literally any data you want in there. It could be your contact information so someone could scan it to add to their contacts, or you can put your wifi login so that people can just scan to connect, or any URL!
I love that it’s a very digital thing but exists (usually) in the physical world, and doesn’t consume any power (because it’s just printed). It also allows people to skip having to manually type a bunch of information. So cool!
You can even make them do things when scanned if you control the server for the URL that is loaded. I made a QR code doorbell!
There’s also a browser API for detecting QR codes (among others!).
